At HCS, the Counselling and Learning Centre provides various services to ensure holistic development of the child and promote inclusive education. This includes not only physical but mental health and emotional wellbeing also. The school has a team of experienced school counsellor and special educator that facilitates over-all development with respect to academic, interpersonal, emotional, behavioural and social concerns of the students as well as children with special needs. The following amenities are provided to the students across classes KG-12.

1. Individual counselling sessions

Individual counselling sessions are held to address concerns of individuals across many life stage situations such as personal growth and understanding, anxiety, depression, stress, difficulties with friends or family, addictive behaviours, adjustment issues etc. These sessions are held in one-to-one and face-to-face format between the counsellor and the child with utmost confidentiality.

2. Group counselling sessions.

These are held to promote healthy interpersonal relationships and communication patterns between students. Social skills training is also provided to students who face difficulty in maintaining and initiating conversations and to help them overcome their difficulties in relating to other people.

3. Life Skills

Life skills sessions on themes such as health and hygiene, bullying behaviour, growth and development, communication styles, learning strategies, goal-setting, time-management, dealing with examination anxiety and personality evaluation to uncover strengths and weaknesses are conducted in classrooms for students.

4. Career Counselling Program

Intensive professional career counselling program as well as career seminars are held to ensure that every child gets an opportunity to explore her interests and aptitude. Interactive and enlightening workshops related to career choices, career assessment, international education, entrepreneurship beyond classroom, one-to-one career counselling sessions are conducted by experts from eminent organisations. One-to-one counselling services are also provided to students whereby they are given information related to graduation and post-graduation courses, university programs, various national and international universities offering the programs, personalized psychometric reports, new age career information, self-career counselling guide and specific career road maps to individual choices.

5. Special Education

Special education services are provided to assist students who have academic concerns as well as for children with special needs (CWSN). Informal assessment of their academics is conducted and individual intervention is provided to students suitable to their needs. The lessons are planned, adapted, and presented to meet each student’s needs and are conducted in small groups or on a one-on-one basis. Technical support is also provided to students with additional requisites to facilitate their learning inside and outside the classroom.

Parents may visit the School Counsellor and Special Educator with a prior appointment through the school diary in connection with any problems concerning their child.
