Independence Day Celebration

14-Aug-2019

Independence Day was celebrated with full pompous and galore. The afternoon witnessed some spectacular performances from the aerobics group, dramatic group and contemporary dance group. The chief guest for the occasion Dr. Kulpreet Kaur hoisted the flag and presented the deserving students with trophies and certificates. Students from KG celebrated Independence Day on 13 August, 2019.

Raksha Bandhan Activity

Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister which is one the deepest and noblest of all human emotions. To commemorate this festival a rakhi making activity was organised for K.G students. The little bumble bees were very happy and enjoyed this activity.

Van Mahotsav Celebration

With reference to circular no: 40-15 (5) Plantation / 2018-19/ SCB/ 636 dated 06/08/2019 a tree plantation drive was conducted where 50 Trees and 100 shrubs were planted by the environment ministers of the Holy Child School in the school premises. It was an enriching experience for the students.

The aim was to create awareness among students about the importance of growing trees and keeping our environment green.

English week

Various activities were conducted during the English week from classes 3-5.

The students participated actively and showcased their talents.

Class 3 had spell bee activity.

Class 4 had poem enactment based on moral value.

Class 5 narrated short stories with a moral value.

Deworming Drive

Holy Child Sr. Sec. School took part in the nation wide drive for Deworming. Students were given medicine by the trained staff members.

Nutritious and Junk food activity Class IV and V

Creative and attractive scrapbooks were made by grade IV and V students exhibiting different nutritious and junk food of Thailand, France and India. Students learnt that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body and a healthy body is the result of having healthy and nutritious food. Students had a great learning experience, as they came to know about the choice of food available across the world.

Recipe booklet activity Class 6

Students of class 6th collected recipes of exotic dishes of three countries Thailand, India, and France. They did a comparative study of the methods of cooking in these countries. The activity helped students to identify the importance of food of our mother land and also appreciate the taste of different countries.

Paper tearing and pasting activity for KG

Paper tearing and pasting activity was conducted on 5 August, 2019 for Kindergarten students. It is an effective way to enhance fine-motor skills of the little ones. Children enjoyed this activity and learnt the use of fevistick too.

One to One Career Counselling (Class XII and X)

One to One Career Counselling Session was conducted by experts from CareerGuide as a part of the Career Counselling Program for the students and parents of Class XII and X. The resource persons were Ms. Leema Joseph, Mr. Karan Sabharwal, Ms. Pooja Jain, Ms. Roopali Goyal, Mr. Jai Kataria and Mr. Vikram Soni.

Character depiction competition Class I

Character depiction competition for class 1 was held on 2 August on the topic freedom fighters. The participants were enthusiastic and excited to tell us about the freedom fighters who gave selfless sacrifices to see our Nation free.

Solo Singing Competition Class II

Class II solo singing competition was held on 2nd August in the hall. 10 students from each class participated and gave heartfelt salutations to the nation through the musical mode.

English Week (Class IX-X)

To celebrate the English week, an Oration Competition was organised for the students of class IX on August 1, 2019 in the hall of the school premises during the 3rd and 4th period. The topic was 'Women Peace Workers'.

During English Week, English Department organised Debate Competition for Class X on August 1, 2019 in the School Hall. The topic of the debate was taking care of starving people is more important than saving natural resources.

English Week (ClassVI-VIII)

Continuing with the Celebration of English week, HCS organised various competitions and activities to enhace Students’ interest for the language.

Class VIII-- A competition named 'Characters Coming Alive' was organised. Students from class VIII enacted on various stories taken from Arabian Nights and Aesop's tales. Dressed up in the characters, the students were a treat to watch. The students took part in huge numbers and the competition turned out to be a great success.

Salad Bowl competition was organised on 29 July, 2019 for class VI.

CAREER WORKSHOP FOR CLASS X & XII

Career Counselling Workshop conducted by experts from CareerGuide for students of class X and XII on 29 July, 2019. The resource persons were Ms. Surabhi Dewra, Mr. Aditya Sisodia, Ms. Roopali Goyal and Mr. Jai Kataria who educated the students regarding the various career options in humanities, commerce and science. Students also posed many doubts and were also given new age career booklet which explained the various career options in the current trends.

Orientation for parents (Class VI-XII)

Orientations were conducted for parents of children studying in Class VI –XII. Each session catered to the problems faced by children at various levels. School policy was discussed and suggestions for better communication and successful academic session were invited from parents.

MCD workshop

MCD officials conducted a workshop for creating awareness about mosquito bites and the measures to be taken to reduce the spread of various diseases caused by mosquito bites. Pamphlets were distributed by the officials.

Tear and Paste Competition Class 1

Tear and paste competition was organised for the students of Class I. Students used viberant colour combinations to fill their worksheets.

Clay Moulding (Class II)

To improve fine motor skills and dexterity, clay moulding competition was organised by Shanti Squad on 26 July, 2019.Students creatively came up with different ideas and made clay figures of Lord Ganesha, Water kingdom, Jungle scene etc.

Workshop by Alumni For Class XII

A workshop on How to build entrepreneurship beyond classroom? was organised by alumni on 26 July, 2019. The facilitator for the event was Mr. Vanshali, Ex- Naval officer and Mrs. Nancy Juneja, Principal of Shanti Gyan Vidyapeeth School and director of RevUp Lifeskills Unit.

Social Studies Week Class III-V

Special Activities were conducted during the Social Studies Week for classes III,IV and V.

Class III had a collage making activity based on "My India".

Class IV had a talk on "The State I belong to".

Class V had a poster making activity on the topic “Save the planet Earth".

The students were actively involved and showed a lot of interest. They came up with new and innovative ideas.

Yoga Competition (KG)

Yoga Competition was organised for the little Bumble-Bees of Holy Child Sr. Sec. School, Tagore Garden in the month of July. The performance and the commitment witnessed during the event were praiseworthy. The children performed different types of asanas like: Vrikasana, Bhujangasana, Virasana, Tadasana, Navasana, Dhanurasana, etc. The competition ended with the distribution of certificates.

Activities for KG in July

Indoor activities for kids are a fun way to enhance their learning abilities. It boosts creativity among children, they acquire social skills, positive attitude, improves attention span and attain motor skills.
To encourage this, fun and frolic activities for kindergarten students were done in the class where children enjoyed and boost their energy.

Hand Impression KG

Hand Impression activity for Kindergarten students was organised on 24 July, 2019 in order to enhance their fine-motor skills which strengthen their finger and hand muscles. The children dipped their palms in paint and made an impression on paper. The paints used were of pastel paints (non-toxic) of different shades like; red, green, yellow, blue, pink, etc. Children enjoyed this activity and were delighted to see their palm prints on paper.

Social Science Week (Class VI-VIII)

Great enthusiasm was witnessed in the classrooms of Class 6-8 during the Social Science Week.

 

Class VI - Students came up with unique slogans in the slogan writing competition.

Class VII - Innovative techniques were displayed by Students of Class VII in Brochure making Competition for promoting historical places of their choice.

Class VIII - Class VIII built beautiful models on the topic of Various energy resources.

Class X - A collage making competition was organised for Class X. Topic of this competition was Diversity in India.

 

Show and Tell Class I

In order to enhance public speaking skill students of Class I took part in Show and Tell activity. This activity was carried out within a span of a week. Each orator described innovative prop. This was a fun filled activity which encouraged children to overcome their stage fear.

Extempore Competition Class IV

On 20 July Extempore competition was conducted in the hall for class IV organised by Preeti squad. Four girls from each section participated in the same. Each participant was given 2 minutes to speak on the topic 'The day I woke up late' and 'The day it rained whole day '. All the participants spoke eloquently and precisely over the topic.

Debate Class V

To enhance oratory skills and confidence debate was organised on 20 July, 2019 for class 5 on the topic- Media bane or boon and Are celebrities a role model?
Students participated will enthusiasm and spoke for and against the topic.Opposing arguments were put forward to argue for opposing viewpoints.

Tell-a-Tale Class II

English Tell-a-tale competition was organised for Class 2 on 12 July, 2019. Students narrated stories of their choice using innovative techniques and props.

Maths week Class VII

On 10 July,2019 Class VII had a Model making Competition as a part of Maths week. The topic was ‘3D model of a city’. In this group activity the students used their creativity in making models with 3D shapes.

Maths week Class VI

On 9 July, 2019 students of Class VI took part in a drawing competition with the topic- Scenery with numbers as a part of the Mathematics week celebrations. It was an individual competition and students took part enthusiastically.

Tell-A-Tale Class1

As a part of ISA initiative an English Tell-a-tale Competition was organised on 12 July,2019. Students from class 1 narrated stories on the topic- ‘The World Festivals’. The little narrators came up with traditional stories related to different festivals celebrated all over the world.

A workshop was conducted by Mrs. Ruchi Sengar on 22 May 2019, to enhance the reading skills and integrating four ELT skills in a classroom session. English teachers took part in the workshop with zeal to learn its functionality in classroom environment.

Child Protection Policy

On 21 May, 2019 a training program was conducted on Child Protection policy by Mr. Francis Rebello for creating awareness about Child Abuse and Child protection Policy. The entire faculty and administrative staff actively participated in the Training process.

Workshop on International Education

A workshop on International Education was conducted by experts Mr. Ankit Jain and Rajesh Baral for class XI and XII on 17th May 2019. The session focused on imparting awareness about the steps one should take for studying abroad, understanding about the criteria for admission in top universities of the world, pre-requisites to enter the college of choice and the various examinations involved for applying overseas.

Mother's Day Celebration

To celebrate the eternal bond of a mother with her children, HCS conducted a Lantern Making Competition on 14 May, 2019 as the theme for the event was Chinese Lantern Festival under the British Council ISA Activity. The competition was for one and a half hours. The bond and the teamwork shared by the mothers with their daughters was alluring and delightful. The lanterns made by them were fascinating in their own way which reflected the hard work put in by all the teams. The judges selected the best ones and the trophies along with certificates were given. The mothers really appreciated the event and gave a positive feedback. The event motivated the HCS team to organize more events as this one proved to be efficacious in many ways.

Health and Nutrition Workshop

A health and nutrition Workshop was held for students of classes VII and VIII in the hall on May 6, 2019. A team from DANONE YAKULT had come to talk about the human digestive system to the students and enumerated various facts about good and bad bacteria in the intestines. After an interactive session with the students there was a quiz where a few children won key rings. At the end of the workshop all the students were given samples of yakult bottles.

Holy Child School, Tagore Garden celebrated the Earth Day as a part of the British Council ISA Activity. ‘The life we must protect’. T-shirt making competition was organised for classes X-XI on the topic ‘Endangered Species’. The students also participated in a walk to create awareness and to contribute to the cause of conserving Earth and its endangered species.

Commerce Workshop

On the occasion of Labour’s Day children got the chance of meeting the school helpers. The helpers introduced themselves and showed the instruments they use. Children appreciated the work of watchman, sweeper, gardener, maid, electrician and carpenter.

Labour’s Day

Labour Day is a celebration in the honour of labourers and the working classes. Neeti Squad was the incharge of the cultural programme on Labour’s Day.The programme began by welcoming the supporting staff. Sister Deepika addressed the gathering followed by prayer and distribution of gifts. Students performed a skit, dance and sang a song on the occasion to make our supporting staff feel special.

School Walk For KG

A school walk was organized for kindergarten students on 30.04.19.The tiny toddlers explored their school with keen interest and interacted with senior students and staff. Children were very happy to explore the natural environment which enhanced their progressive thinking.

T-Shirt Making Competition

Holy Child Sr. Sec. School, Tagore Garden celebrated Earth Day as part of the British Council ISA activity ‘The life we must protect’ with a T-Shirt making Competition for Classes 10 and 11. The purpose of the activity was to make the students aware about the endangered species and their duties as an individual to protect the wildlife. The students gained knowledge about endangered species and identified some of the measures to prevent endangered animals becoming extinct.

This year’s edition was characterised by the highest academic level, a great enthusiasm and fantastic involvement by the participants. The hardwork of the participants along with the school team perfectly aligned with schools theme “Always more and always better”.

Avril's Odeletta

Holy Child School, organised Avril's Odeletta 2019, a variety of competitions, based on Sustainable Development Goals, on 25 April, 2019 in the school premises. The children from prestigious schools of Delhi showcased their creative skills in movie making, symposium, concevoir and painting competition. Each venue bloomed with amazing ideas and concepts, vibrant templates, teamwork and creativity. Altogether it was an enriching experience for the students as healthy interaction took place and it also enhanced their competitive spirit.

Bible Quiz

Earth Day

Earth Day was celebrated in Holy Child Sr. Secondary School on 24nd April 2019 with a thematic assembly highlighting the topic - “Endangered species” by the students of classes 6th -11th. This was followed by a small skit and dance enumerating the importance of protecting our wildlife. This was followed by the Green Pledge where the Eco-brigades along with the teachers-in-charge, took the oath to keep their surroundings clean, grow more trees, practice zero carbon habit, reduce the paper wastage and implement a total ban on plastic and aluminum foil in the school campus. Various competitions like mask making, bookmark decoration, best out of waste and poster designing were held for students from Class III to VIII on topics related to endangered species.

Educational trip to Police Station and Fire Station

Students of Class 2 went for an educational trip to a Fire Station and a police station on 15 and 16 April, 2019. The educational trip was organised to create awareness amongst children about their neighborhood and their helpers.

Kavi Sammelen for Class VII – Poems with Hasya Ras and Vatsalya Ras were composed and presented by students.
Vaad Vivad for Class VIII – In this debate competition, merits and demerits of Mobiles and Technology and Effects of Films and Fashion were discussed.
Street Play for Class IX – Students presented thought provoking street play on different topics related to Social Issues and Awareness.
JAM – Just A Minute for Class X – Students were told to speak for one minute on the topic given on the spot.
